Stepping Up for Rural Road Safety

September 1, 2025

This September is Rural Road Safety Month, and the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) is encouraging all Australians to Step Up and make a difference with the theme “It’s Time to Step Up.”

The ARSF’s new research reveals that more than 1 in 4 drivers (27%) admit to relaxing their safety standards outside of city limits. This mindset contributes to the disproportionately large number of fatalities in rural roads, as regional, rural and remote areas accounted for nearly two in every three road fatalities (63%) recorded in 2024. Acusensus is proud to be continuously working to reduce road trauma across the road network, including on regional roads.

Throughout the month, we’ll be highlighting stories from our team that embody this year’s “Step Up” theme. Just as the ARSF encourages physical challenges to commemorate the role each person plays in road safety, our team is stepping up in their own ways and contributing to the shared mission of making our roads safer.

This month we take the opportunity to remind ourselves that road safety is a shared responsibility, and every action counts. We encourage you to join the conversation and consider how you can “Step Up” for road safety, because every choice we make on the road could help save a life.
