This Rural Road Safety Month, Safer Choices Foster Rural Road Safety in Western Australia

August 24, 2026

This Rural Road Safety Month, the Australian Road Safety Foundation is encouraging Australians to “Join the Journey” towards safer driving on rural roads.

The WA State Government’s investment in Acusensus safety camera technology enables dangerous driving behaviours to be enforced at scale across the State’s vast 182,000 km road network.

Deployed across the state, the multi-function safety camera trailers detect speeding, mobile phone and seatbelt offences, supporting safer choices on every journey, all year round.

More recently, the trailers have been deployed in pairs to detect average speed along key regional roads. This approach encourages drivers to make safer choices for the entire length of their journey, rather than simply at a single point.
It’s a practical reflection of the Australian Road Safety Foundation’s call to action this Rural Road Safety Month.
